Some people might think that because I am an alcoholic, my life is a total mess. But that’s not true at all. In fact, I have to say that my life is pretty great! Every day,
I get to reflect on the positive things that have happened, and it really helps me stay on track. Today, for example, I woke up early and hit the gym.
Then I had a great conversation with a friend over lunch. And finally, I finished up some work projects that I’ve been putting off for weeks. All in all, it was a really good day!
Of course, there were also some negative moments (we all have them), but overall I’m really happy with where my life is right now.

I have found that Step Six has helped to make me realize the importance of spiritual progress. I may not be able to get rid of all my defects, but most are easier for me now than before as I grow in this program.
Some more so than others- it’s nice when we can identify which ones these are!
The only thing needed from you is your willingness and diligence; if repeated often enough then even our worst characteristics will turn out better with time.”
I hope that my story has given you some ideas about how to address your character defects.
You may not be able to eliminate them, but you can work on making the most of what is there and minimizing its negative effects.
Don’t give up! Keep trying new ways until something clicks for you–trust me, it’s worth it in the end.
