Daily Reflections February 14

Focusing on the most important things in life, like sobriety. That is what my blog is all about. A daily reflection on what I learned that day and how I feel about it.

Sometimes it’s easy to forget the importance of living a sober lifestyle with all the temptations around us but with these reflections, writing them down helps me stay accountable for my actions and reminds me why I chose this path in the first place.

My goal is to help others who are struggling with addiction by sharing my experiences so they might find encouragement too!

Burn the idea into the consciousness of every man that he can get well regardless of anyone. The only condition is that he trust in God and clean house.ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS, p. 98

Expectations are a tricky topic. We all have them and it’s not wrong to expect good things from life or decent treatment, but where do we get into trouble?

When our expectations become demands because people let us down sometimes or other times in which you find yourself with some messes on your hands will either make matters worse than before by retaliating instead of trusting God who is able enough for anything!

In order to deal with disappointment, we must be willing to accept it. It is not wrong for me to have expectations of myself, good things from life, or decent treatment from others.

However, when my expectations become demands I will fall short of what I wish and situations will go in ways that do not please me because people let you down sometimes.

The only question is “What am I going to do about it?” Wallow in self-pity or anger; retaliate and make a bad situation worse, or trust God’s power?
