Today marks the beginning of a new journey and a chance to reflect on our shared recovery. If you are reading this, I want to extend my most sincere congratulations for making it another day in your sobriety and taking one more step closer to the life of freedom that awaits you.

No matter how tough times may be now, know that if you continue on your path with dedication and strength, any darkness will eventually give way to light – your own unique light that brings joy back into your life once more.

Daily Reflections March 13

We have entered the world of the Spirit. Our next function is to grow in understanding and effectiveness. This is not an overnight matter. It should continue for our lifetime.

When I “enter” the spiritual realm, I am taking a meaningful and often challenging step in my own growth. Focusing on immaterial things instead of material ones means being devoted to God’s will for me – love, joy, patience, kindness and more – rather than succumbing to weaknesses like selfishness or fear.

Aspirations towards sobriety provide strength as this process continues over decades; although never easy it is always worth it!

From reflecting on the phrase “entered into the world of the Spirit,” I am reminded of how important it is to actively strive towards spiritual growth. Spiritual growth is not a destination, but a journey.

As I look at my own spiritual growth, I see that self-centeredness and pursuit of worldly things can be barriers to true connection with the divine. To reach a place of joy and divine connection, obedience to God’s will is necessary.

The qualities of unconditional love, joy, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, self-control and humility represent conscious practices which help bridge the gap between materialistic pursuits and divine union.

This day I’m encouraged to work diligently towards making better choices that promote spiritual health in my life and make the hard choices when asked by God’s voice – if we do so consistently we can find ourselves in an ever deepening relationship with our creator!
