Daily Reflections July 21

Are you struggling with your recovery? Is it hard to focus and stay on track? You’re not alone! As an alcoholic myself, I completely understand the temptation that lingers around us all.

Sometimes we just need a helping hand, so why not take control of our own recovery journey and start off each day by reflecting on how far we have come? Today’s reflection for July 21st is about learning from our mistakes rather than dwelling in guilt or feeling ashamed.

Let’s look at this day as an opportunity to acknowledge the wonderful work you are doing during this difficult period of sobriety!

Daily Reflections July 21

By this time in all probability we have gained some measure of release from our more devastating handicaps. We enjoy moments in which there is something like real peace of mind. To those of us who have hitherto known only excitement, depression, or anxiety – in other words, to all of us – this newfound peace is a priceless gift.

TWELVE STEPS AND TWELVE TRADITIONS, p. 74

Surrendering to God can bring a deep sense of freedom, allowing us to be guided by faith and grace. Through an act of desperation we can find victory as our surrender grows into ongoing acts of trusting in divine guidance.

Letting go allows us the opportunity for peace and liberation from anxiety; replace despair with hope and have faith that all will work out in your favor!

Through some of the toughest times, when I think the world has thrown curveballs left and right at me, surrendering to God has been a saving grace and something truly worthwhile.

When I feel that I have nothing else to work with in dire times and have completely let go of my thoughts and attachments on what I thought would be best, allowing God to take control, I have seen amazing results that follow.

It is sometimes unbelievable how such a small step can help one gain so much more than imagined. By regularly practicing this act of letting go, I am learning new ways to experience the beauty and perfectly curated plan that comes from fully following faith in all that is around me.

Today was an important lesson for me amidst all the chaos: there is no greater power than the power of divine understanding we can receive through surrendering our own will for something much higher than ourselves.
