Daily Reflections October 12

As we all know, alcohol is a touchy subject. For some, it’s the best part of any day. For others, it’s something to be avoided at all costs.

But no matter which side of the fence you fall on, alcohol is often seen as a source of controversy and debate. This is especially true when it comes to discussing alcoholism. Whether or not someone has “a problem with alcohol” is a topic that can quickly turn heated.

But in the spirit of open discussion and reflection, let’s take a closer look at alcoholism today. What does it mean to be an alcoholic? And what are some of the pros and cons of drinking?

Join me on this journey as we explore one of society’s most complex issues.

Daily Reflections October 12

When we speak or act hastily or rashly, the ability to be fair-minded and tolerant evaporates on the spot.

TWELVE STEPS AND TWELVE TRADITIONS, p. 91

Being fair-minded and tolerant is a goal toward which I must work every day. Asking God for help in this endeavor, as well as taking time out of each day to reflect on my words so that they don’t cause emotional turmoil not only those around me but myself too – prayer will always grant success!

The first step towards answering any question or solving an issue goes through inventories: listing all possible avenues explored until now; then connecting specific occurrences with their contexts while keeping open other possibilities where relevant (without forgetting important connections).

In the end, I am a work in progress. But I’ve learned that when my own practice of tolerance and love is lacking, it only takes one small act to make up for it.

These are some things I can do daily to improve my attitude toward others: be fair-minded and tolerant with myself, ask God as I understand Him for help in being loving and tolerant with those close to me, curb my speech when agitated by taking a moment to consider how what might have been said could affect not just another person but also myself emotionally.

Prayer, meditation and inventories will keep me on track so that sound thinking leads me towards positive action every day!
