Daily Reflections July 22

Today is July 22nd. Just another day, right? Wrong! Today is a very important day for alcoholics all over the world. Why do you ask? Because today is when we celebrate Alcoholics Anonymous’ founding date!

For those of us in recovery, this is a time to reflect on how far we’ve come and looked ahead to the future. Today is also an opportunity to give thanks for the support of our friends and family members who have been with us every step of the way.

So today, let’s raise our glasses! in celebration and remember how lucky we are to be alive and sober today.

“My Creator, I am now willing that you should have all of me, good and bad.”ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS, p. 76

Humility is the soul of service.

By giving myself up, I open my heart to God and allow Him to do with me as He sees fit -whether through removal or addition- in order that we may all have a chance at being more like him!

The essence of Step Seven is humility, and what better way to seek humility than by giving all of myself – good and bad – to God, so that He may remove the bad and return to me the good.

I have been freed from my shortcomings through receiving help from a Higher Power, who can take care of them for me.

In this process, I find great joy in life because it has become about serving others rather than seeking happiness or fulfillment in things outside of myself.

May you too be freed from your shortcomings like me, with no need to carry anything back but gratitude for our time together on earth while we await reunion in Heaven.
