Daily Reflections April 30
These legacies of suffering and of recovery are easily passed among alcoholics, one to the other. This is our gift from God, and its bestowal upon others like us is the one aim that today animates A.A.’s all around the globe.TWELVE STEPS AND TWELVE TRADITIONS, p. 151
The great paradox of A.A. is that I know I cannot keep the precious gift sober unless giving it away – but when you do, your life becomes about as fulfilling and important for yourself as to its recipient!
However- this isn’t only for me; we’re all in need: alcoholics like myself who still suffer from withdrawals symptoms (a matter of life or death), family members worried sick because they can’t reach their loved ones at night time due to overindulgence…
If one person has had enough then there are lots more people within our Fellowship ready to take up where he left off by sharing with another alcoholic just like him so both parties grow closer together under God’s grace.
In the end, A.A., and sobriety in general, is not about me- it’s about helping others with their problems too.
I have a responsibility to stay sober for myself, but also for my family members and friends who are still struggling with addiction themselves.
It’s one of the best gifts I can give them by staying clean.
